Dan Tower Farm {#roadtrip}

Dan Tower is the 6th generation of Tower family farmers to work this 200 acre apple farm in Youngstown, New York – nestled into the Lake Ontario shoreline close to the Canadian border.  His daughter, my dear friend Tawnya, spent her childhood on this rural acreage of fruit trees and market gardens and recently her youngest child Cade joins his sister Sophia as the 8th generation to be introduced to the orchard – his baby pictures were taken hanging in Nelson Tower (Farmer Dan’s father)’s old apple picking bag.

Dan Tower Farm sells a wide variety of apples, other fruit, seasonal vegetables, fresh cut flowers including bouquets & arrangements, english walnuts, and free range eggs.

I’m on my way down to Vermont for a roadtrip/vacation, so I stopped in to see Tawnya and pick up some fruit for the trip… since we aren’t allowed to take it across the border! Tawnya toured us around the orchards then we picked out apples, pears, plums and some walnuts for the van ride.  Somehow I even get talked into doing farm chores during my vacation, but chickens are entertaining teehee
