♥ juice ♥

It seems like everywhere I turn these days someone is on a juice diet or cleansing fast or kale kick.  But, hey… I’m not complaining that one of my favorite things in the world is finally trendy!  I’ve been subsisting off a semi liquid diet for years.  I’m not really quite sure how it happened other than I got busy with school then work and somehow throwing a ton of fruits and veggies and a scoop of vega into a blender was the easiest way to go.  Recently I’ve graduated from juicing to blending when my parents downsized and I inherited their juicer and a number of juicing cookbooks.

I think the book I’ve used most so far is The Juicing Bible by Pat Crocker.  I like this one in particular because the recipes aren’t just tasty they’re healthful.  Divided into helpful categories: Heart-Healthy Tonics, Aperitifs & Digestives, Bitters, Endocrine Elixirs, Immune Boosters, Muscle Powers, Nerve Nourisers, Respiratory Juices, Stress Busters, Tonics, Cleansers, Healing Teas.  Lately I’ve been picking out of the Stress Busters category quite often, my favourite (so far) recipe called Beet Retreat is fantastic when made from garden fresh ingredients all of which I’ve got kicking around at this time of year!

Beet Retreat

4 Carrots
2 Beets
1/2 Cucumber
1 Stalk Celery
1/2cup Chamomile Tea

Using a juicer, process carrots, beets, cucumber and celery.
Whisk together with Chamomile tea and pour into a  glass.
